Web development in 2021 is massively complicated with separate front end and back end technologies that need to be integrated. Eliom promises a single integrated solution but from a distance seems highly custom and complex.
I was hoping for some feedback. Is Eliom relevant and useful today?
Eliom still has some unique features that are very attractive for complicated web apps. However I would not use Eliom today for new projects. Eliom is incompatible with both dune and merlin and I can’t imagine developing in OCaml without either. The tooling story really needs to be addressed before it can be a serious option again.
