Criteria for opam package popularity



The rankings of opam packages by popularity are surprising at the moment and seem to be based on small numbers of installs (if you scroll down, you quickly reach blocks of alphabetically-sorted packages). Did the install counts get reset accidentally? Did some window shrink a bit too much?

It would be nice it there was an indication of what algorithm is used to quantify popularity. Authors are sensitive to these things :slight_smile:


Indeed, calculation is done on a subset of packages because of outdated regexp, a lot of packages werenโ€™t taken into account.
