Ah yes “let’s just add comment to json”, nobody though about that one, except the 300 projects that all did it differently. If you really want a non-lispy configuration format that supports comments, please follow the Rust example and use toml instead. 
That being said, I think jbuilder’s syntax is fine, and this is all a huge pile of bikeshedding.
