Real World OCaml 2nd ed is Available to Download for Free! (+Book Giveaway)

Tarides is sponsoring the Gold Open Access release of the second edition of Real World OCaml by Yaron Minsky and Anil Madhavapeddy! Published by Cambridge University Press, Tarides is making it possible for everyone to to download the book to their local device.

The authors and publisher have generously agreed to give away some physical copies of Real World OCaml. They really want to reward the amazing and active members of the community who are so engaged with the book. That’s why ten people who merge a PR with a suggested improvement to the book on GitHub will receive a free copy of Real World OCaml! All you need to do is email us with your merged PR, and we’ll let you know if you’re one of the lucky 10 who receive a book! For instructions on how to participate in the giveaway, see our blog post.

Gold Open Access means that the entire version of Real World OCaml will now be permanently and freely available online for anyone to read and download. Until recently, you could read the book online, but for offline access you had to rely on the printed version. With Open Access, now you can download a PDF to keep on your local device for easy access at any time.

We of course encourage anyone who has the means to purchase a physical copy of the book, as it’s the result of a lot of hard work and dedication and comes in a beautiful printed physical edition.

To read more about the release and get some insight from the authors themselves, go to the Tarides blog mentioned above. It covers a lot of information, from the benefits of Gold Open Access to an overview of the book’s contents, with plenty of quotes from people involved in the process.
